Cory Monteith Death Due To Toxic Mix of Heroin, Alcohol

The shocking news of Cory Monteith's death has rocked many in Hollywood and reports from TMZ declared the cause of his death was due to heroin and alcohol. Monteith was found dead in his hotel room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in downtown Vancouver on the 13th of July when staff went up to question why he hadn't checked out.

His girlfriend Lea Michele, requested privacy during this time as the stars' fans have been hurling condolences and tweets her way. Apparently Cory Monteith willingly went to rehab for drug addiction and came out clean so it remains a mystery what changed his mind.

Monteith's cousin, Richard, spoke to Canada's Global News about the death of his cousin saying:
"Please don’t judge on what is gonna be coming out,” he said. “Glass half full. All the good things that he’s done. There’s more things on that side to focus on.”
“Because he is such a high profile guy, you know it is not going to end there," he added. "There is going to be ridicule about — he has done this or that — and I just hope people know it is not about that. … His life was full of beautiful stories, triumphs, failures and successes that it does not matter what his problems were. … It matters how many lives he changed and that he was genuine.”

Adam Levine Gets Engaged

On the Oprah show some time back Adam was quotes as saying "I'm a fan of marriage," he confessed. "People think that I keep pooh-poohing marriage, but I love it ... I want to probably be married at some point." Well ladies, its now official as Adam's representative announced earlier this week to the 'People' magazine that he's now engaged to Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo.
This may come as shocking news to some as the couple have only been dating for a year now, but the actor 34, and his soon to be wife at 24, seem to want to make their relationship permanent. Known for his model hopping antics, the Maroon 5 singer has finally brought those days to rest and has started a new chapter in his life.

Pacific Rim - The Scoop

This film image released by Warner Bros. Pictures shows Charlie Hunnam as Raleigh Becket, left, and Rinko Kikuchi as Mako Mori in a scene from "Pacific Rim."

Epic, imaginative, 'pretty cool' and poor acting are one of the many words people are using to describe Guillermo del Toro’s latest: Pacific Rim. The movie is about 'bad robot' (aliens) attacking and destroying the cities of earth and portray Guillermo del Toro’s way of fighting back - utter destruction of metal against metal.

In a brutal battle to save whats left of earth, manned robots are built for warfare against the aliens called Kaiju. Although a lot has been said about this 'film being a rip off of all the other iron against iron films' you have to give credit to its amazing graphics, semi interesting story and who doesn't like filmy alien attacks anyways?

Well, Pacific Rim hits theaters around you this weekend so be prepared for an 'epic battle of the worlds.'

Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst Arrested for Having Unlawful Sex With Students

A high school teacher in Southern California, Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst 28, was arrested by police on Monday following her having a baby with a 16 year old boy. It is believed Ms. Whitehurst has had multiple affairs with this same boy and a couple others in her school.

Being charged for allegedly having unlawful sex with a minor, the boy's mother apparently reported this to the school at Citrus Valley High School in Redlands, who in turn tipped off the police early Monday afternoon. It was reported that the high school teacher's affair with her student continued on for a year before local authorities were made aware of her affair. While the boy, now 17 years of age, remains father of the child born on June 18th, news has been circled that there might be yet another victim and investigations are ongoing.

Reports came in from the station that the teacher has left jail following a $25,000 bail.

The Declaration of Independence - 10 Interesting Facts You May Have Never Heard Of Before

Believe it or not, the Unites States Day on Independence isn't believed to be exactly on the 4th. Yes, that is just one of the interesting facts but we'll go more into the details of that.

An article from Yahoo News explains why the US' Independence Day might not really have been on the 4th of July along with 10 other historic and interesting facts about the Declaration of Independence.

1. Is Independence Day really July 2?

Officially, the Continental Congress declared its freedom from Britain on July 2, 1776, when it approved a resolution and delegates from New York were given permission to make it a unanimous vote. John Adams thought July 2 would be marked as a national holiday for generations to come.

2. July 4 is when the Declaration was adopted
After voting on independence, the Continental Congress needed to finalize a document explaining the move to the public. It had been proposed in draft form by the Committee of Five (John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson) and it took two days for the Congress to agree on the edits.

3. Six people signed the Declaration and also the Constitution
Franklin was literally among a handful of people who signed both historic documents. The others were George Read, Sherman, Robert Morris, George Clymer and James Wilson.

4. But they didn’t sign the Declaration on July 4th!
Once the Congress approved the actual Declaration on Independence document on July 4, it ordered that it be send to a printer named John Dunlap. About 200 copies of the Dunlap Broadside were printed, with John Hancock’s name printed at the bottom. Today, 26 copies remain.

5. So what if I stumble upon a lost version of the Dunlap Broadside at a flea market?
That’s exactly what happened in 1989 in Adamstown, Pa. It was tucked behind an old picture in a frame and it cost the buyer $4. That version of the Declaration was eventually acquired by TV producer Norman Lear for $8.1 million.

Apple's iWatch and New iPhone Details

Good Morning America - Details on Apple's iWatch and New iPhone Emerge (ABC News)

Apple seems to want a bite of the smart-watch industry as they gave out a few details of their new smart-watch the 'iWatch.' Said to be synchronized with the iPhone gadget, the iWatch has been a much talked about topic for Tim Cook who claims that the wrist was an "interesting" and "natural" spot for a wearable devices, at least in comparison to Google Glass.

Yahoo News reported the new CEO as saying:

"There are lots of gadgets in this space right now, but there's nothing great out there," Cook said at the technology conference. "But none of them are going to convince a kid that hasn't worn glasses or a band to wear one. There are a lot of problems to solve in this space. It's ripe for exploration." Recently a number of fitness wristbands were released, which pair with a phone and track steps and calories burned.
The iWatch would be a new category or type of device for Apple, but the company is also planning to refresh its iPhone. The iPhone 5S has already been rumored to have the same design as the current iPhone 5, but have a faster chip and a fingerprint reader. The International Business Times reports that it will launch on September 20. Apple released the iPhone 5 last September 21.

With a score of  6-2, 1-6, 6-4, Sabine Lisicki kicked out the five-time Wimbledon champion and ended Serena's 34-match winning streak.

Serena was quoted as telling a reporter of the Washington Post:
“She plays really good on grass,” Williams said afterward. “She has a massive, massive serve. So going in there you have to know that it’s definitely not going to be an easy match playing her at Wimbledon, especially on Centre Court.
“It’s definitely not a shock. I just need to do better.”
Lisicki had to dig deep in the third set, fighting back from a three-games-to-none deficit. Afterward, she giggled and expressed her disbelief about beating the No. 1 player in the world.

It was a magnificent turnout this Friday at the Blackhawks Parade as some 3 million or so fans clambered to get a glimpse of their champions in red and partake of the celebrations. Reports confirmed that 2 million people showed up to the 2010 parade as the Blackhawls celebrated their first cup since1961. The parade this Friday started at United Center, made its way down Washington St., curved down Columbus Dr. to reach an on-stage rally in Grant Park at Hutchinson Field.

Captain Thanks The City

"This shows how unbelievable this city is," Toews said, addressing the rapt crowd at Grant Park. "Unbelievable. Thank you."
The Blackhawks rode to the rally in red, open-topped buses, passing waving and screaming fans of every age as the parade traveled from the United Center to the downtown party. Toews hoisted the Stanley Cup over his head to show it off to the crowd, which was cooled by large water misters placed along the route with temperatures in the low 80s.
One of the many signs read "Thank you, guys" on the top line and "Best 17 seconds of my life" for the second part - referring to the pair of late goals that lifted the Blackhawks to a 3-2 title-clinching victory over the Boston Bruins on Monday night. And there was at least one expression of love for Andrew Shaw, the hardscrabble forward who required stitches on his face after he was hit by a puck Monday.

Even Corey Crawford spoke to the The Grant Park crowd, who enjoyed hearing from the normally reserved goalkeeper.
The massive crowds also resulted in 42 people being taken to the hospital due to heat-related health problems. But that didn't stop the jubilant crowd who camped out on the park grounds waiting for a chance to clamber up on stage.

Wimbledon - Top Seeds Lose to New Comers

                                                                                                  Stefan Wermuth/Reuters
As Nadal, Roger Federer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka fell at the hands of new comers in the tennis seen this Wednesday, America's favorite Serena Williams balanced the scale with a great win 6-3, 6-2 victory over Caroline Garcia, 19, of France. However, it wasn't a walk in the park for Serena initially.

The NYTimes reproted:
“The first thing I do is, I’m like, ‘O.K., Serena, stay focused,’ ” she said. “This happened before. I don’t know when. I want to say it was the U.S. Open, though. A lot of players were losing. I thought, definitely want to stay focused and stay serious. So that’s what I did again yesterday.”
Garcia lifts her eyes to the sky well before she tosses up the ball to serve, and it ultimately seemed like a fine idea to seek help from above in light of Williams’s current form. Williams rolled to her 33rd straight victory and has also won 28 straight sets, which meant that after all the drama-tinged news conferences and pretournament public apologies, she could settle into a much more lighthearted vein on Thursday.
It included a debate about a would-be battle of the sexes with Murray.
Opening question: “Andy Murray has challenged you to a showdown in Las Vegas. What is your answer?”
Williams: “He’s challenged me?”
That led to discussion of Williams’s long-ago match (and defeat) against the cigarette-smoking German journeyman Karsten Braasch in Australia in 1998.
“I was really young; I’m a lot more experienced now,” Williams said, before considering Murray.
“He’s probably one of the top three people I definitely don’t want to play,” she said. “But yeah, maybe we can have a little bit of a showdown. That would be fine. I get alleys. He gets no serves. I get alleys on my serves, too. He gets no legs. Yeah.”

Williams faces  Japanese player Kimiko Date-Krumm who is the oldest women (43) to advance to Wimbledon’s third round in singles.
Although the two have never played before, Kimiko has history with the Williams family knocking the other five-time Wimbledon champion in the Williams family (Venus) out of the singles.
